I am pretty sure, that everyone of you have this one special book, which made you fall in love with amazing world of reading and gave you very first literary adventure. The book which is total masterpiece for you and somehow you are personally bonded with it. I also have this special
book: "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón.
This book takes us to the 1945's postwar Barcelona, then introduces us to the main character- -------Daniel Sempere. He is an 11 years old boy, who wakes up in a day of his 11th birthday and realizes, that he forgot his dead mother's face. It makes him sad. His widowed father takes him to visit very special and mysterious place - The Cemetery of Forgotten Books. This place is a guild of books forgotten by the world, waiting there for people who will take care of them again.
Daniel's father is introducing him to the labyrinth of bookshelves and ask him to pick this one special book, which will have purposeful meaning for him. After Daniel picks his particular book- "The Shadow of the Wind" by Julian Carax. Daniel gets interested in this author other works, but he can't find nothing. He is in shock, when he finds out that someone has been intensively destroying every single copy of every single book written by this writer. Later we discover that Daniel's copy of this book is the last one ever. It turns out that having "The Shadow of the Wind" last copy opens in front of Daniel the gates into the one of the darkest mysteries of Barcelona; which contains cinematic love story, terrifying murder, magic and passion. Daniel has to find out the truth about Julian Carax's life- if not his life and life of his closest family and friends may be in danger.
This novel will blow your mind. You will feel terrified, in love, scared and you won't stop until you finish. Zafón will give you unique reading experience and you will remember this novel till your last breath! I'm serious! This is a masterpiece in spanish literature. This story line will touch and move every part of your body and mind. Your imagination will burn by living fire as well. This is my special book with a lot of personal meaning and the masterpiece I will always come back to read again and again. Totally recommended <3
