Hello bookworms! I hope all of you are good today. I am not sure if you know this thing about me, but besides Hemingway or Zafón, I love Stephen King's art as well.

One of my favorite King's book is "Misery".

This is a psychological horror thriller novel. The main character is Paul Sheldon- a writer famous because of book series called "Misery". After he gets a car crush, he is being rescued by crazy fan of his novels- Annie Wilkes. She transports him to her house and takes care of him after the accident. When she finds out that Paul in his last book killed the main character Misery Chastain, she gets furious and forces him to write a new book and modify the story.

Paul is already addicted to the codeine-based painkillers Annie is giving him to get rid of the pain, because in the accident he broke both legs and he can move only using the wheelchair. He begins a new story, he uses the old typewriter Annie gave him. He manages to escape the room to find more painkillers and also to discover the house, while Annie is not there. Paul discovers that the telephone doesn't work and finds the scrapbook with newspaper clippings, suggesting that she murdered over 30 people. Here comes the moment Annie gets depressed and Paul finds out, that she knows about his escapes from the room. She has the idea for his punishment- she cuts off his leg with an axe! Later when Paul complains about the typewriter he got from her, Annie gets furious again and she cuts off his thumb using the electric knife! When the Colorado state officer comes to Annie's house in search for Paul, she murders him with her running lawnmower. Then she hides Paul in the basement, where he steals the can of lighter fluid.

Some time later she moves Paul back to his bedroom, where he is able to finish a book, she forced him to write- "Misery's Return". Annie comes to read it, but she finds out that Paul has doused the manuscript in lighter fluid and lit the match to burn it. While she tries to stub out the flames, Paul uses this moment of distraction and attacks Annie with the typewriter. They get into a violent fight, in which she hits her head. When Paul escapes from the room, he passes out but upon awakening he is able to alert the policemen, who have come to search for another officer. He warns them that Annie probably is still alive, but they find out the room is empty- she disappeared.

It turns out Annie managed to escape through the window and gone to get a chainsaw. In her mind the only thing was to kill Paul. Meanwhile she dies from the head wound. After this traumatic time Paul went through with Annie, he comes back to New York and publishes "Misery's Return"- the artwork he has been forced to write by her. Unfortunately the nightmares about Annie- his "number one fan" comes to him. He suffers from painkillers addiction. In the end he finally gets inspiration and strength to write again.

I have to be honest. This novel scared me to death! During reading this book, I was in the world of consistent terror. I was turning page after page and I couldn't stop reading. With every page I was more horrified. I could see Paul without one leg in the room full of blood on the floor and Annie standing next to him with an axe! My imagination was working so hard, that I wasn't able to go to the bathroom alone! I'm serious! This book takes you to the dreadful world full of obsession, depression, blood, fear and malware. The story line is so real, you can feel every moment of danger on yourself. You can even feel your body is shaking from fear. This novel will blow your mind and your senses. You can even be vulnerable for every sound you hear, while reading this book. Your imagination will work without any limits. This is really scary and VERY strong experience you can get from that book. It's like you are in the middle of psychological horror action and you are one of the characters in life danger. I almost had a heart attack. King, you are unbelievably good.
